I thought they would be a great addition to the other goodies I'm making for my daughters Halloween activities at daycare. I thought it would be a pretty quick craft. However, it was not. The pumpkins were so hard that my needle was totally useless by the end. It was way too time intensive because it took so long to shove the needle through each piece of candy. The end result was a success. I made a candy bracelet. However, it was not worth the time I spent making it. And, they were very messy to eat. I literally put my daughter in the shower after she finished because she was coated in a thin orange candy crust. I think this project was a FAIL. It might be better with softer candy but now I have a huge bag of pumpkin candies. I hate pumpkin candies...
While I was making the bracelet I had a project for Lillian. I found this amazingly simple idea and thought it was worth a shot. Lilly really enjoyed it even though she didn't really grasp the overall goal of building with the marshmallows and toothpicks. She probably spent about 35 minutes pushing the marshmallows onto the toothpicks and if you have a toddler you know that more than a few minutes doing any one thing is a great success. So, even though she didn't build anything she did have fun and was able to work on her fine motor skills so I think it was a WIN.
